Preventing Low Back Pain and Disc Injury in Little Falls, NJ
July 12, 2025The Best Way to Get Rid of Low Back Pain in Little Falls, NJ
Hi, I’m Dr. Joann Giesenhaus with Core Chiropractic, and I want to explain to you how chiropractic care can help eliminate low back pain.
What Is a Vertebral Subluxation?
One of the main things we look for with low back pain is a condition called a vertebral subluxation. So what is a vertebral subluxation?
Let me explain. Here’s your spine:
- This is where your brain sits.
- This is the cervical area (neck).
- This is your mid-back area.
- This is your low back, leading into your hips—and from there, your thighs.
A vertebral subluxation occurs when one of the spinal bones moves out of place. This can happen in many ways, which we categorize as micro-traumas and macro-traumas.
Micro vs. Macro Trauma
Macro-traumas are the big events—car accidents, sports injuries, slips, and falls.
Micro-traumas are those smaller things that build up over time:
- Sleeping in poor positions
- Constantly looking down at your phone
- Leaning forward at your computer
- Long commutes while slouched over the wheel
These day-to-day stresses accumulate over time, often without us realizing it. Eventually, they can cause vertebral subluxations anywhere in the spine—neck, mid-back, or low back.
Why It Matters: The Brain-Body Connection
Your brain communicates with your body through the spinal column. All the spinal nerves branch out and connect to every part of your body—muscles, ligaments, tendons, and organs. This communication system affects every body system: cardiovascular, respiratory, muscular, digestive, and more.
When a subluxation disrupts this communication, we move away from health. That’s when we start experiencing body signals like:
- Low back pain
- Sciatica
- Hip pain
- Menstrual issues
- Digestive problems
These symptoms could all be signs of spinal misalignment and nervous system interference.
How Chiropractic Helps
When we identify these subluxations, we correct them through chiropractic adjustments. Then, we stabilize and strengthen the area to help prevent the problem from returning.
If you look at our large spine model, you’ll see how the nerves travel from the skull down through the neck, mid-back, and low back—extending all the way into the hips and legs. It really emphasizes how everything is interconnected.
Our Proven Approach: The Better Results Faster Plan
We use a proven system called the Better Results, Faster Plan. It consists of three key components:
- Adjustments – Staying consistent with your care plan and keeping rhythm with your visits.
- Breaking Bad Habits – Addressing the macro and micro-traumas we just talked about.
- Specific Exercises – Customized corrective, strengthening, and stabilizing exercises designed just for you.
These three elements work together to help you hold your spinal corrections, so you don’t fall back into pain—and so you can continue doing what you love, living the life you want to live.
If you’re experiencing any of the symptoms we’ve discussed—especially low back pain—give us a call. We’d be more than happy to check you out.
Once again, my name is Dr. Joann at Core Chiropractic. Thank you!
