July 20, 2025X-rays are Critical for Low Back Pain Relief | Chiropractor for Low Back Pain in Little Falls, NJ
Hi, I’m Dr. Joann Giesenhaus with Core Chiropractic. I want to talk to you about why we take X-rays — because it’s super important.
Looking Deeper Than Posture and Exams
Now, we also look at other things like your posture, and we perform a biomechanical structural exam. That tells us quite a bit about what’s happening on the outside of the body.
However, do we really know what’s happening on the inside of the body?
Most people who come into our office don’t even know they have scoliosis. And there’s an even more dangerous condition we often uncover on X-rays — vertebral subluxations.
What Is a Vertebral Subluxation?
A vertebral subluxation is when a bone moves out of place — just like this.
Now, I can’t see that from the outside of the body. The only way to detect it is through X-rays.
When we locate these subluxations, we can begin correcting them. They’re dangerous because they put pressure on nerves, which can cause irritation, swelling, and body signals — also known as symptoms.
How Subluxations Cause Symptoms
That pressure on the nerves can show up in many ways:
- Sciatica
- Nerve pain
- Numbness and tingling
- Carpal tunnel symptoms
- Headaches, neck pain, and shoulder tension (especially if the subluxation is higher up)
These symptoms can affect your quality of life — but the good news is, if you detect subluxations early enough, you can correct them.
The Power of Motion Study X-Rays
Let me show you how we do it. We use motion study X-rays, which are super unique and incredibly helpful.
For the cervical spine (neck), we have you bend forward and backward. We should be able to see every single bone moving. If one or more don’t move properly, that’s how we detect a subluxation.
We do the same for your mid-back (thoracic spine) — having you bend and twist, and then we take measurements to pinpoint the exact problem areas.
Then we do it again in the low back. Sometimes people think they’re bending evenly — but one side might move more than the other, or they might be twisting without realizing it. These details matter — and only a motion study X-ray will catch them.
Creating Your Corrective Care Plan
By taking that deep dive and looking inside your body, we can accurately locate subluxations and build a custom corrective care plan just for you.
Our goal is to remove the subluxations, stabilize the spine, and help you get back to doing all the things you love.
If you think you might have low back pain, sciatica, headaches, or any nerve-related issues — please, please get checked.
It’s incredibly important to remove subluxations early and get as healthy as you possibly can.
I’m Dr. Giesenhaus at Core Chiropractic. Thank you!
